✓ You don’t feel confident in front of the camera but still want beautiful images.

✓ You want your pregnancy documented in a natural and meaningful way.

A Relaxed Maternity Photoshoot Experience

You don’t need to be confident in front of the camera to have beautiful maternity photographs.

In fact, most of the women I photograph tell me they’re nervous before their session.

My approach is very gentle and relaxed.

I’ll guide you throughout the session, but nothing is heavily posed or forced.

We simply spend time together, enjoy the location, chat, walk and create photographs naturally along the way.

If your partner joins us, I’ll guide both of you so the photographs feel genuine rather than staged.

The goal isn’t perfect posing.

The goal is creating photographs that feel real when you look back at them years from now.

Where Do Maternity Sessions Take Place?

Most of my maternity sessions take place outdoors, using some of my favourite locations around Glasgow and Central Scotland.

The right location depends on the type of photographs you are drawn to. Some mums love open countryside and long grass, while others prefer woodland paths, lochs, historic buildings or a more urban feel.

If you’re not sure where you’d like your session to take place, don’t worry. I’ll help you choose a location based on the style of photographs you love most, how far you’d like to travel, and how comfortable you feel during this stage of your pregnancy.

For those who prefer a quieter and more personal setting, maternity sessions can also take place at home.

At-Home Maternity Session

A relaxed alternative for mums who prefer the comfort of their own space.

Pollok Country Park

A beautiful blend of historic architecture, formal gardens andd elegant natural backdrops.

Irvine / Ayr Beach

Wide open beaches, coastal views and a relaxed, windswept feel.

Mugdock Country PArk

A wonderful choice for families drawn to nature, woodland trails and wide, open spaces.

Not sure which location would suit you best?

After booking, I’ll send you a location guide with examples from previous sessions to help you choose the setting that feels most like you

What To Expect During Your Maternity Session?

Most maternity sessions don’t feel like a photoshoot.

They feel more like a walk, a conversation and an opportunity to slow down for a little while.

There is no rush, no complicated posing and no expectation to perform for the camera.

I’ll guide you throughout the session, but we’ll focus on natural movement and genuine interaction rather than perfect poses.

If your partner joins the session, I’ll gently guide both of you. If you already have children, they are very welcome to be part of the experience too.

My goal is simple: to create photographs that feel natural and reflect this season of your life honestly.

We’ll choose a location, discuss outfits and talk through any questions you may have.

I’ll guide you through the entire experience, so you’ll never need to worry about what to do next.

You’ll receive access to an online gallery of unedited images where you can choose the photographs you’d like include in your collection.

Real Maternity Sessions

Every family, every pregnancy and every session is different.

Some couples arrive feeling completely comfortable in front of the camera. Others tell me they’re nervous and don’t know what to expect.

Most leave saying the same thing: “That was much easier than I thought it would be.”

The photographs below were created during real maternity sessions across Glasgow and Scotland.

No professional models. No experience in front of the camera.

Just families preparing to welcome a new baby.

What Should I Wear For My Maternity Photoshoot?

You don’t need to buy a new outfit for your maternity session.

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable, confident and like yourself.

I usually recommend soft, neutral colours, simple textures and clothing that allows you to move naturally. Long dresses photograph beautifully outdoors, but they are never a requirement.

If your partner is joining the session, coordinating colours usually works better than matching exactly. Think of outfits that complement each other rather than identical clothing.

To make preparing for your session easier, I also offer access to a small client wardrobe. It includes a selection of dresses chosen specifically for maternity photography, which you are welcome to borrow for your session at no extra cost.

After booking, I’ll send you a detailed style guide with outfit suggestions for you and your family, as well as photographs of the available wardrobe pieces.

Choose comfort first

If you feel uncomfortable in an outfit, it will show in the photographs.

Avoid large logos and busy patterns

Simple clothing helps keep the focus on you and your growing family.

Stick to neutral colours

Creams, soft browns, muted greens and earthy tones photograph beautifully in most locations.

Coordinate, don’t match

Choose colours that work well together rather than identical outfits.

Client Wardrobe Available

A selection of maternity dresses is available to borrow for your session.

This can be especially helpful if:

• you’re not sure what to wear,

• your usual clothes no longer fit comfortably,

• you don’t want to buy an outfit you’ll only wear once,

• you’d like a dress that photographs beautifully outdoors.

Not sure which collection to choose?

You don’t need to decide straight away.

After your session, you’ll receive access to your unedited gallery and can upgrade your collection once you’ve seen the photographs.

Many clients find it easier to choose after viewing their images rather than making a decision before the session.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time for a maternity photoshoot?

Most maternity sessions take place between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy, when your bump is beautifully visible and most mums still feel comfortable during the session.

Can I upgrade my collection after viewing my gallery?

Absolutely. After your session, you’ll receive access to an online gallery of unedited images and can decide whether you’d like to keep your original collection or upgrade to a larger one.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Gift vouchers are available for all maternity collections and make a lovely gift for an expectant mum or growing family.

Can I bring my dog?

Of course. Dogs are part of the family too and are always welcome at outdoor sessions.

Do I need to pay a deposit to book my session?

Yes. A £59 deposit is required to secure your session date. The remaining balance is paid on the day of the session.

Can I combine a maternity and newborn session?

Yes. Many families choose to document both chapters. If you’re planning to book both a maternity and newborn session, please let me know and I’ll be happy to discuss the best options for your family.

Do you travel outside Glasgow?

Yes. I photograph families throughout Glasgow and Central Scotland. Travel within 10 miles is included in all collections, and additional travel can be arranged if you’d like your session to take place further afield.

What happens if my baby arrives earlier than expected?

Don’t worry. Pregnancy and babies rarely follow a schedule. If your baby arrives before your maternity session takes place, we’ll simply discuss alternative options, such as an earlier session date or a newborn session instead.

What happens if it rains on the day of the session?

Scottish weather can be unpredictable. If the weather isn’t suitable for an outdoor session, we’ll either adjust the timing or move the session to another date. Your comfort and safety always come first.

Let’s Plan Your Maternity Session

Pregnancy often feels long while you’re living through it.

Then suddenly, it’s over.

Whether you’re expecting your first baby or preparing to welcome another little one into your family, maternity photographs are a way of holding on to a chapter that passes far more quickly than most of us expect.

If you’d like to find out more, check availability, or simply ask a question, I’d love to hear from you.
