Winters in Scotland seem to be long, cold and harsh. In the real depths of the frosty wintertime it is so natural to have a feeling as though spring was never going to turn up… And then, out of nowhere, vast swathes of small, beautiful snowdrops appearing out of leaf-strewn woodland. This’s the first
sign that the spring is just around the corner!
Snowdrops start to pop up towards the end of January and linger until March. Those elegant flowers can make amazing subjects for photos. But they’re not around for long – so it’s crucial to make the most of them while we can.
The best place for snowdrops to shoot, I recommend going to Mugdock Country Park.
A spring photo shoot in the daffodils
The moment when daffodils start appearing through the final snowfalls, nature seems to go into overdrive.
Glasgow is covered with yellowish carpets, signs of spring and incoming Easter. For shoots at Daffodils you don’t have to go far. Your local park is covered by them over March and April. Pictures below I’ve taken at Alexandra Park, Glasgow Dennistoun.
A spring photo shoot in the bluebells
Bluebells became another synonymous with Spring. Walking through a purple carpet of bluebells is an amazing springtime adventure for families. No wonder why spring mini sessions in bluebells became so popular in past years. Bluebells usually bloom from mid-April to mid-May.
The best places to go for bluebells family photos in Glasgo is Drumchapel Bluebell Woods within the old Garscadden Estate.
A spring photo shoot in the beautiful blossom
The start of spring sees trees bursting with beautiful blossoms. All trees are different and blossom in different times. Cherry blossoms from early April reach their peak at the end of the month. Then apple trees and magnolias bursting with blossom.
Any park in Glasgow is a perfect place for blossom shoot starting from the beginning of April.
A spring family photos in Glasgow in the primroses
Wild primroses are not as common in Glasgow’s parks. It’s easier to find them in the woods. Primroses bloom as early as late December and flower until May at the Cardowan Wood.
Feeling inspired? Spring textures of fresh grass, colorful flowers and blossomed trees give us the most spectacular backdrop for spring family pictures, maternity shoots or kids portraits.
I have 5 spots available for Wild Primroses Spring Photo Shoot in May, contact me for details if you wish to take advantage of refreshing spring colours!
